Cornflower Blue is Trevor May and Theresa McInerney, a pair of Ottawa musicians creating live folk music with chiming guitars and shimmering vocal harmonies. They have been performing together for over fifteen years. They play either as a duo, or with their band: Dea (violin), Dosh (Bass), and Rob (Drums).

Theresa is originally from Dartmouth NS, but has spent some formative years in Cold Lake Alberta.  Trevor originally hails from Edmonton Alberta, and has spent some formative years in the interior of BC.  They routinely draw on this broad experience to create their music, which uses space, dynamics, and openness to dramatic effect.

Big parts of their sound are Theresa’s voice, Trevor’s harmonies, and electric 6 and 12 string guitars, often equipped with "B-Benders". The resulting effect is sublime.

A short bio in timeline format:

1993 – Trevor and Theresa meet at a house party where Trevor’s rock band, EFARM, was playing. Theresa gets on stage and performs several songs with the band.
1996 – Theresa joins EFARM as lead vocalist.
1996 to 2005 – EFARM releases two albums and performs dozens of shows in the Ottawa region. Theresa’s children, Abbey and Erin, are born.
2006 – Trevor and Theresa form Cornflower Blue during an open stage at Bass Line Station. Audience reception to Theresa’s voice with Trevor’s sparse accompaniment is immediate and positive. First real gig is at the Heart and Crown in Ottawa’s ‘Byward Market’.
2007/8 – Cornflower Blue gets busy and does several shows, including dates at Rasputin’s and the Ron Kolbus center.
2009 – Trevor’s second son, Lucas, is born. Lucas does not sleep well, causing Trevor to sing to him all night long. Trevor records demos for Cornflower Blue’s first album, “Infant Songs”, at night while singing Lucas to sleep.
2010 – Theresa and Trevor record “Infant Songs” and release the album. They invite some friends, Deanna (Violin), Rob (Drums) and Dasha (Bass) to play with them at the CD release party. Everyone likes the way it sounds. Deanna, Rob, and Dasha become members of the band. Trevor and Theresa get time on local TV. The first single from the album, “Dangle”, gets airplay on several US radio stations. Trevor writes several new songs including “Run Down the Rails” and “Morning in the Burned House”.
2011 - The new album, "Run Down The Rails" is recorded and mastered. Many shows are performed. A video is filmed for "Run Down the Rails". More to come.
