New Album off to be Pressed!
14/11/11 08:46
Hi Folks,
Well at long last, Cornflower Blue's new album is off to be pressed. It was just about a year in the making. Theresa and I have never lavished this much attention on a recording in our entire 20 year career! Funny - now I seem to have more time to play guitar and write songs...

Iona-Palooza
12/09/11 14:34
Hi Folks,
Just played a wonderful neighbourhood event at Iona Park here in Ottawa: Iona-Palooza. There were over 300 people there, with a big pile of kids and their parents. There was food, beer, and a great festival atmosphere. The kids either played on the playground or danced. We had a great time - and our kids did to! We wish every event was as nice as this one was.

Played the Elmdale and a Street Party
01/06/11 22:35
Hi folks,
Just finished up playing the Elmdale - It was a great show. I think that we're really starting to get our performance dialed. We're getting better at reading each other and using dynamics to create emotion - and the audience noticed! Well, I think they noticed anyway...
We also played a big block party on Dasha's street. Loads of kids, loads of entertainment, and loads of fun. We really enjoyed playing to our children - we had one of Theresa's daughters on stage with us introducing songs for us! We even had some drama: Rob had another gig that night and had to duck out early - but then he left his sick bag. We got it sorted out, but it would have been interesting for Rob to play a gig with no sticks!
Next week - westfest in front of Bridgehead!

Started tracking our second album

Hi Folks,
We're at it again - Album #2 is now in the works. So far two songs are in the bag and two are about 1/3 done. We plan to release the new one this summer. If anyone has thoughts about what to call it, just drop us a line.

Earth Hour at Bridgehead
27/03/11 22:35
Hi folks,
We just played one of the coolest gigs we've ever done: Earth Hour at a local Coffeehouse (Bridgehead at Richmond and Golden). All the power was turned off and the place was lit with hundreds of candles. We played completely acoustically with no mics, or amps. Believe it or not, the place was FULL with standing room only at the back. The crowd was great - being very quiet while we played and cheering wildly when we finished each song. Rob and Deanna played very well and we had loads of positive comments. And the best part was we will be back at the Coffeehouse (with PA) for westfest! All and all a great night of great music and great people.

Just played the Elmdale

Hi folks,
Quick report on our Elmdale Tavern show for those who missed it. We were the opening act, but we still played to a full room. It was a lot of fun. Audience response was very positive, especially to the new songs with violin. We got a lot of comments on the violin, mostly about what a great addition to the band it was. Deanna played great and sounded great up there!
We ended the night with the old Waterboys song "Fisherman's Blues". I don't know if there was more perfect musical moment, but if there was it must have really been something! It was a glorious thing to behold.
